If you have not been to the dentist in a while, we invite you to schedule your dental checkup and cleaning with Breeze Dental. At our Bellevue office, we treat patients of all ages, focusing on anxiety free environment and improving the health and appearance of our patients’ smile.

  • Professional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists or the Dentist at Breeze Dental. Routine dental exams will also include professional dental cleanings. The aim of dental cleaning is the removal of dental plaque, dental calculus and polishing of the tooth surface to reduce attachment from oral bacteria.
  • Dental plaque: Bacteria in our mouth produce toxins that are left on our teeth and gums. When toxins are left on teeth, it appears as a sticky, almost invisible film, and this is basically what dental plaque is. When toxins are left inside the gum, the gum becomes inflamed resulting in gingivitis, which is the initial stage of gum disease.
  • Dental calculus (tartar): If plaques are left on tooth surface over time, calculus is formed. Calculus is hardened dental plaque left on the tooth over time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed by dental hygienists or dentist. If left inside the gum line, it will lead to periodontitis, which is the destruction of bone surrounding teeth.
  • Teeth polishing: After dental plaque and calculus are removed, we will also remove stain polish tooth surfaces to reduce further bacterial attachment.
  • Importance of Dental Cleaning: Recent studies have stated that for your overall health and well-being to improve, it starts with good oral health! Our comprehensive dental hygiene program will preserve your teeth and the supporting structures. We aim at preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental disease and gum disease.
  • Periodic professional dental cleanings is highly recommended. During this visit, removal of plaque and calculus from teeth, and areas where a toothbrush can't reach, will be addressed, and treated.
  • Excellent dental home care regimen is also a necessity. We will discuss and make recommendations during routine exam and cleaning on areas that require improvements. Proper brushing technique and flossing will also be discussed.
  • If needed, additional care may be indicated, for example, it is highly recommended that pediatric patients should have fluoride treatment to strengthen dental enamels.
